MY PLANT JOURNAL

Grade II learners were introduced to Word processing software MS Word. They learned to change page color, text size,color and style. They also copied and pasted pictures on various parts of plants and wrote down their functions.

FLOWCHARTS

Grade IV learners learnt about the purpose and construction of Flowcharts. They saw how various symbols play an important role in forming a flowchart and created flowcharts for a given statement to add few numbers.

Powerpoint and Google earth

Grade 3 Learners were taught how to use Google Earth to explore various places and to calculate a distance between 2 or more places. They used Google Earth to view the Satellite Images of Various Landforms. They were introduced to  the purpose and essentials of MS Powerpoint presentation tool and the features that are present in it. (Adding /Deleting slides, adding animation effects,transition effects,Music,Video, pictures etc.) Later they started the project of PPT on landforms by collecting satellite pictures of their favorite landforms and pasted in the slides.

 

Parts of a plant

 Grade 2 Learners made a diagram on the “Parts of a Plant” using MS Paint software and labeled the plants using Text Tools and wrote down the factors that are important for the plant to remain sustainable on the Earth.

Story of my Life

Grade 1 Oakridgers  created a project called “Story of my Life” in Kidspiration toolwhere they write down details about their life including their likes and dislikes. They typed details like favorite childhood moments, future goals and favorite places to visit.

 

Google earth

Grade 3 Learners were introduced to online quiz tool ” Socrative.com” where they attended a quiz on the ICT skills they have learnt so far . Later they were introduced to Google earth tool where they were shown how to locate a particular place or landform and also features like zoom in zoom out , 3 D view etc

What is Coding ???

Grade 2 Oakridgers were introduced to coding concept and discussed how code is written for simple animation tasks. Later they logged in to ” Hour of code and tried a simple tasks in kodable.com. This kodable.com is a link to self-guided games that introduces children to programming basics.

Recap of ICT Skills

Grade 1 oakridgers revisited the ICT skills and softwares they were introduced in Unit 1 & Unit 2 . Later they were introduced to online tool called ” Socrative.com” where they attended a quick questionnaire  on their understanding related to usage of ICT skills they have practiced so far. The questionnaire contained multiple choice questions and True or false questions.

NASA EARTH OBSERVATORY

Grade 5 learners were introduced to “https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/GlobalMaps/”  in which NASA Satellite images shows how our earth — its landform, oceans, even the Sun has changed in recent decades. They quickly went through a series of videos on earth changes and created a short note on 5 different changes of earth in the past years by adding text , images etc. in MS note sofrware.

Fun to read

Grade 1 Learners did rapid typing for some time and they continued the pending acitvities in Starfall.com under ” learn to read ” section. Later they tried all the activities under ” Its fun to read ” where they picked & matched words related to the things used day to day life. They were filling the blanks on the words related to the stories about music, poetry, tongue twisters and bird riddles.
